PRACTICAL – Design Choices
Create a design for a CDU Design Student
Shoulder Bag
Shape - Rectangular
Media – Creating an image in Photoshop, printing on cloth bags
Style – graphic text
This is my design for CDU shoulder bag. I
wanted to use Photoshop for this work and I got an idea of using text design to
create an image. I created many “CDU”
text layers and gave them the different colors like light purple, light pink
and light blue as you see the colors go together and it looks similar tone. I
set the background text’s size quite big and gray tone to make the texts
on top look more obvious. After merged the layers together I created an image
of a black bag then moved the text image on it, merged layers, and done. This
is just a simple technique of using Photoshop. It’s an easy way to create
images without drawing just typing, arranging layers and using a bit of design ideas.

Pop Art

Pop Art is the movement in art when artists began to create art with the subject of things that are the iconic in nature such as famous people, advertising, and movies. (http://www.osnatfineart.com/pop-art.jsp)
Create Andy Warhol Style Pop Art - Lady Ga Ga [Photoshop CS5]
This is a video tutorial of how to create a pop art styled image in Photoshop CS5. I often see this kind of image design on stuffs like T-shirt, bag, poster and many more and I like it. I saw the sample image of this video and it looked really cool then I started to watch this and found that it's a good tutorial. I didn't know before what actually pop art is so I did a little bit of research after found this as the above. The tutor uses a photo of Lady Gaga as an original image. As I see, it's noticeable that the Pop art image is made by creating a high contrast between black and white then colored each part with the colors like yellow, red, blue and pink (these colors are used in pop art most of the time).
